Water Safety in Harrogate- How We're Helping Local Children Stay Safe This Summer
At Harrogate School of Swimming, water safety isn't just something we teach in our swimming lessons, it's at the very heart of everything we do. As a leading provider of swimming lessons for children and lessons for babies in Harrogate, we believe that safety in the water starts long before a child ever steps into the pool with us.
Expanding Our Commitment to Water Safety
At the start of this year, we made a decision to take our water safety mission further, beyond the pool and out into the wider Harrogate community. We wanted to make sure that as many local children as possible — not just those already enrolled in swimming lessons with us — had access to vital water safety education.
Leading this effort has been Sarah, our Head of Baby Swimming, who has worked tirelessly throughout the year to build relationships with local nurseries and schools. Sarah has arranged in-person visits across Harrogate to deliver engaging water safety talks and book readings, helping children understand how to stay safe in and around water from an early age.
By the end of term, Sarah will have visited 28 schools and 39 nurseries across the local area, reaching approximately 2,492 children in total with essential water safety education.
Water Safety Week: A Huge Success
As part of this ongoing commitment, we were proud to run our Water Safety Week on 13th June 2026. The response from families across Harrogate was fantastic, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents and children alike. It was brilliant to see so many families engaging with the water safety message and talking to their children about staying safe around water — both in the pool and beyond.
