Children’s Swimming Lessons
We teach from 3 years & above our classes are an ideal opportunity to introduce young children to basic water skills and orientation in a safe and fun warm environment.
Adult Swimming Lessons
We also provide 1:1 lessons for adults or smaller groups on request to help you gain that all important confidence in the water.
Intensive Lessons
We offer both Easter & Summer intensive week courses for both group & private daily lessons as well as diving lessons.

Duckling Awards
The ASA Duckling Awards are designed to help young children enjoy learning to swim with help from their parents or guardians. With Duckling awards your child can work towards five different fun colourful awards and badges.
Learn to Swim Awards
The Swim England Learn to Swim Awards make up the core, national syllabus of learning to swim for primary school aged children. They are designed to reward your child for their development of the essential aquatic skills they need to be confident, competent and safe in the water

About Us
Welcome to the Harrogate School of Swimming, founded and managed by Louise Aikman. She teaches alongside a fantastic, enthusiastic group of fully qualified Swim England instructors.
We offer an outstanding development scheme for children aged 3 years old and upwards, following the Swim England Amateur Learn to Swim Framework. This plan teaches the fundamentals of swimming using the most innovative techniques, in a fun and exciting environment. The use of toys and games are a big part of our beginner classes. We aim to create a happy and safe environment concentrating initially on water confidence, and building on the necessary skills to develop stroke technique, through to encouraging stamina and advanced strokes.
Swimmers will be continually assessed during their lessons and formal assessments are undertaken every term, with badges awarded for successfully completing all skills required for each award. There is a strict criteria for gaining each of the awards; therefore some children may not achieve awards every term.
Group sizes are small (up to 4) so that each child receives the attention they deserve and this enables them to progress at their own pace. Tuition is “hands on” with the extra security of having their teacher in the water with them at the early stages of swimming.
Lessons take place every week during term times and are 30 minutes in duration. In addition intensive week swimming courses take place during the Easter & Summer holidays.
Private lessons are available for all ages and abilities by request – we provide from beginners to advanced competitive swimmers.
